How to Submit Sitemap to Google & AOL For Blogger/BlogSpot :

To submit sitemap to Google, you can follow these steps. In these steps for submission of your sitemap to Google I will consider some codes of your blogger sitemap which will be valid for a lot of posts of your blogger so before that let's see the default sitemaps which are,
    http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?orderby=updated or
    http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/atom.xml or
    http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/rss.xml

If you used the above sitemaps for your blogger/blogspot in Google webmaster tool under sitemap section, then Google will index your maximum of 26 posts, which is the common mistake for submission of blogger sitemap by the bloggers. The above sitemap is enough when you have not more than 26 posts into your blogger, but if you have more than 26 posts then Google will not index your 27th post. I have personally tested it. If you want to index your all posts inside your blogger blog, you can use the below code and your all posts will get indexed by Google.

Now here is how to submit your sitemap to Google just go to Google Webmaster Tools and sign in with your Google account and follow the steps, which are in the below preview,

adding sitemap to google for more posts

click on 1. Add a site and in the 2.URL field type your blogger URL and then click on 3. Continue. After click on Continue button you will see a screen for ownership of your blog or site as you can see in the below preview and follow the easy steps,

    verification for google submission sitemap

Now choose Add a meta tag to your site's home page under Alternate methods and 2. copy the meta code and then go to Blogger Dashboard --> Template(Under More options blogger template layout) --> Edit HTML (Proceed)--> do tick on Expand Widget Templates and then find <head> [ using ctrl + F ] and paste the meta tag, what you copied from Google webmaster tool, just after <head> and save template.
Now again go to the owner ship page in Google and then click on Verify. Now if you have done all the steps correctly, then Google will verify your blog.

Since, you have verified for your blog now, you can submit your blog sitemap. For submission of your Blogger sitemap follow the steps,
Go to your Google webmaster tool home page and click on your blog URL for which you want to add sitemap --> Site Configuration (See left panel) --> Sitemaps --> click on ADD/TEST SITEMAP and now put the below code,

    atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500

Now click on Submit Sitemap. If you done all these steps correctly, then Google will successfully submit your sitemap. After some days, you can see the sitemap result into your Google webmaster tool that how many pages have submitted by your sitemap to Google and how many pages Google indexed.

*** Please note that the above code means. start-index=1 tells to Google that, there must be start indexing from the very newest post and max-results=500 means Google will indexed  upto 500 posts. [newest posts --> older posts ]. You can check by simply write your blog feed url to your browser as
    http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=3&max-results=4

What do you see? It will show the results up to four post starting from the newest third post.

*** Please note that, the sitemap, which I used for submission, is only for the bloggers who have less than 500 posts. If you have more than 500 posts then no problem you can additionally add your second sitemap for indexing your posts in the future, by adding,

    atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=501&max-results=500

the above code means that Google will start indexing of your posts from 501th post to the next 500 posts i.e., totally up to 1000 posts. If you have more than 1000 posts, then you have to add an additional sitemap in which you have to put the value of, start-index=1001&max-result=500, which will be totally up to 1500 posts.

***Since AOL uses Google for organic search, so if your site or blogs are being indexed in Google, then AOL will grab your blog automatically.

I think submitting to search engines like Google doesn't work anymore. It's more about being noticed and listed by making it easy for SE bots to crawl your website and having new content all the time to get frequent crawls.

You need to submit site to Google at least once and by submitting sitemap to Google you can track which pages are indexing or not in Google Search and also you can optimize your ranking by tracking which keywords are best for you and of course the quality is the king for Google and for all major search engines.
